Child Advocate Awards Presented at Breakfast

Logan County Children’s Services presented Child Advocate Awards to three area residents Wednesday during its breakfast in observance of National Day of Hope.

Award recipients were Annette Deao, Logan County Family Court treatment coordinator; Angie Hackley, Logan County Family and Children First Council systems of care project director; and Linda MacGillivray, attorney and guardian ad litem.

Melanie Engle, LCCS executive director, noted that these individuals were recognized for their unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of children in Logan County.

The National Day of Hope is observed during Child Abuse Prevention Month, and local officials and other attendees at the breakfast took part in a candle lighting ceremony in remembrance of the five children who die each day in the U.S. because of child abuse and neglect.

Also, a former LCCS foster child spoke, shared personal experiences and urged attendees to continue to support child abuse prevention efforts in Logan County.

The agency also hosts its annual Kidfest celebration from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 21, at the First Lutheran Church in Bellefontaine.
